Where is our Foot Supposed to Land when you Run?

As athlete's we often have the impression that our foot should land in a specific position - we tend to think that heel striking is "bad" and we "should" be landing mid foot.  This is not actually the case.  What matters is not so much the part of the foot we are landing on but rather where our foot lands in relation to our body. Is our foot landing in front, under, or behind us?  Our foot should be landing underneath our base of support - i.e. under our pelvis.  THIS is what we need to be paying attention to with how our foot is landing during our runs vs where we land on our foot.
