B Cardio vs Strength Training in Running: Why you Need Both
If you're new to running or starting running after taking a break, the cardio system will develop more quickly than the musculoskeletal system. It's important to build your run mileage and intensity slowly to avoid injury.
Strength training is key to developing the strength that athlete's need to stabilize while running. Do shorter quality strength sessions 2-4 times a week. Strength training will adjust a bit depending on an athlete's training cycle but it can be included year round.
